Dr. Jennifer Knight, DVM

Dr. Knight grew up just south of San Antonio near Somerset, Texas. She always had a love for animals that developed into an interest in veterinary medicine as she grew older. She graduated from Health Careers High School in San Antonio, and went on to pursue a degree in Animal Science at Texas A&M University. A dream of living in the beautiful Texas Hill Country came true when Dr. Knight came to work at Bandera Veterinary Clinic, shortly after graduating from veterinary school. She and her pets now call the Hill Country home. Dr. Knight is active in our local community through various organizations. She mentors local high school students completing their Certified Veterinary Assistant program through Bandera ISD and Medina ISD. In her spare time she is often found doing various crafty things, and is also a published quilt pattern author.

Dr. Avry Howell, DVM

Dr. Howell grew up in Johnson City, Texas. Helping her grandfather on the ranch, sparked her childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian. During her high school, undergraduate and graduate studies, Dr. Howell worked as a veterinary technician at several different clinics. Following completion of her Master’s, Dr. Howell attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Howell appreciates all animals, both large and small. During her free time, Dr. Howell enjoys staying active with her husband and daughter outdoors with whatever adventures they come across!

Mark B. Richardson, DVM

Dr. Richardson has worked in the Veterinary profession since 1975. In fact this is the only field he has ever worked in,demonstrating his devine destiny. He has been on the College of Veterinary Medicine Zoological and Wildlife Advisory panel and currently serves as a mentor/facilitator on the Veterinary school’s Ethics Panel. And in January 2008 was named The Texas Veterinary Medical Association’s “GENERAL PRACTITIONER of the YEAR”.

Dr. Alexis Brown, DVM

Dr. Alexis Brown, a graduate of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, joined the Bandera Veterinary Clinic team in May 2024. With a lifelong dedication to veterinary medicine, she started as a kennel tech at 15 and has since worked in diverse settings, including small and large animal clinics, a Wildlife Center, and local animal shelters. Dr. Brown is passionate about the dynamic nature of her profession, finding joy in the unique experiences each day brings and the opportunity to improve the lives of both animals and people. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, skiing, hunting, and creating stipple art, including commissions for notable figures. Dr. Brown also has a deep commitment to wildlife conservation, having contributed to anti-poaching efforts in South Africa and volunteered at a cheetah rescue in Djibouti. She shares her home with two dogs, two horses, and various other animals.
